(Blacksburg, VA) — The first major hire of the college football coaching carousel is official. Virginia Tech made former Penn State coach James Franklin its next head coach on Monday. Franklin was fired last month after the Nittany Lions lost three straight games to fall to 3-and-3 on the year. PSU went 128-and-60 in Franklin’s 11-plus seasons on the job. The Hokies fired their former coach Brent Pry in September after a 16-and-24 tenure in Blacksburg.
