(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota is set to receive more than 102-thousand dollars in a multi-state settlement with Menards. Attorney General Marty Jackley says the retailer misled customers about its eleven-percent rebate program. Investigators say ads suggested an instant discount, but customers instead received store credit for future purchases. Under the settlement, Menards must clearly explain rebate terms and stop advertising them as checkout discounts. South Dakota’s share of the settlement will go to consumer education and future investigations.
