(Pierre, SD) — State officials are out with a report on inmate recidivism. According to the numbers, half of all adults released from South Dakota prisons in 2021 returned to custody by 2024. Of those, 35-percent came back on a parole violation. Fifteen-percent returned to prison on new charges.
