“Farmers for a Fair Deal” Launches to Advocate for Midwest Rural Economic Development

ST. PAUL, Minn.December 22, 2025—Farmers for a Fair Deal, a new 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, officially launched today to advocate for Midwest rural economic development. The initiative aims to be a lasting voice for rural issues because supporting rural economies is good for the economy as a whole in the short and long term.

“Farmers for a Fair Deal brings together a broad coalition to push for commonsense agriculture, energy, and infrastructure solutions that put America first and strengthen the communities that feed and fuel the country,” said Patrick Rosenstiel, Farmers for a Fair Deal founder and chair. “United by a belief in the importance of small farms and the need for reliable, affordable energy, our coalition is focused on empowering rural voices in shaping America’s energy future.”

“Families in America’s Heartland face a double crisis,” said Rosenstiel. “Crop prices fall year after year as energy costs are climbing sharply. The situation competitively disadvantages rural, Midwest communities. Therefore, our immediate agenda is to a) prioritize small American agriculture and ensure fair allocation of the value created through federal policymaking, b) keep energy investments in the Heartland, and c) modernize and strengthen America’s power grid.”

“We unite farmers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to ensure the Midwest benefits the most from the hard work of the people who live here in the Heartland,” said Rosenstiel. “By supporting modernization that supports farming, protects jobs, and secures investment in the Midwest, we’re helping build a stronger, more secure energy future for all Americans.”
