Minot Police Chief Focusing On Officer Training And Department Process

(Minot, ND) — Minot Police Chief Michael Frye is focusing on training and department processing next year. Frye says the department is in a better position than when he took over on July 14th but that improvements still need to be made. He said understaffing six months ago almost forced the department to change its schedule to twelve-hour shifts but his aggressive recruiting avoid the change from being made. With 77 of 85 officer positions filled, Frye is turning his attention to training. He says the key to success is when officers understand what they are supposed to do and how to do it.
