(Williston, ND) — Williston Mayor Howard Klug says the top moment in 2025 is passing a new law. Because the city is a major hub for oil field activity, they are entitled to 70-percent of a fixed-amount, debt relief pool that totals more than ten-million dollars. The law also replaced traditional property tax on minerals with a five-percent tax of gross value on oil wells. Klug says the changes have helped the city build new infrastructure to support the growth its seen over the last decade. Since the 2010 oil boom in Williston, the city has seen a 210-percent population growth.
