South Dakota lawmakers are in Pierre for a long day

South Dakota lawmakers are in Pierre for a long day of committee work.

The Joint Committee on Appropriations is meeting most of the day, hearing from the State Treasurer, the State Investment Council, and the South Dakota Retirement System, along with briefings on tribal relations and rural health funding.

Several other committees are also in session, including Senate Judiciary, House Agriculture and Natural Resources, House Taxation, and Senate Education.

Later this morning, House Transportation will take up bills on golf cart speed limits and cellphone use while driving, while Senate Agriculture and Senate Commerce and Energy consider a range of agriculture and licensing issues.
