Free Lunch Bill Passes In House, Faces Uncertainty In Senate

(Bismarck, ND) — The House is passing along a bill to provide free meals for students to the state Senate. The bill passed 55-to-38 in the House after a lengthy debate on Thursday. It’s expected to be voted on by senators on Friday. It only passed in the Senate committee by one single vote compared to the House committee where it passed by twelve votes. It signals the bill could have a tougher time getting yes votes from a majority of the Senate, which it needs before being passed on to Governor Armstrong.
