(Bismarck, ND) — The Legislative Council says they didn’t give the OK for Retirement Investment Office bonuses. Governor Kelly Armstrong said the council and a lawyer in his office said it was fine to go through with the controversial bonuses, worth one-point-three million dollars. The director of the Legislative Council says they did not have the legal authority to advise that. Governor Armstrong went through with the bonuses despite previously stating the bonus system needs to be overhauled. An opinion on the matter is expected from Attorney General Drew Wrigley in the weeks ahead.
