(Pierre, SD) — Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead is hanging up the badge at the end of his term. Milstead is retiring after serving as sheriff since 1997. He announced his retirement on a podcast with KELO. Throughout his 29-year career , he was reelected to the position six times without opposition. Milstead has endorsed Captain Josh Phillips, who announced his campaign on Wednesday.
