SDSU Partners To Analyze Health And Fitness Of Firefighters

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota State researchers are helping Sioux Falls firefighters improve their health and wellness. The team from South Dakota State, led by Dr. Allison Barry is hoping to provide a blueprint model for the firefighters to follow. The group will examine all things in a typical day that firefighters experience and find ways to promote and improve longevity. They will focus on physical activity, nutrition and mental health. The research is expected to last about a year and all made possible thanks to a grant awarded by the Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety.
