Online Program Analyzes Cattle Comfort Amid Frigid Temperatures

(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Agriculture Weather Network says their website helps farmers protect cattle in harsh temperatures. It’s called the Cattle Comfort Index and producers can visit the website for free. A spokesperson for the group says its a good resource to help determine when farmers should provide their cattle with more feed or shelter. The map is set up with different colors that correlate to different levels of stress the animals are experiencing. The site provides current, minimum and maximum temperatures along with an outlook for the next day.
