Roundtable Brings Sioux Falls Mayor Together With Tribal Leaders

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A first-of-its-kind roundtable meeting brought tribal leaders together with the Sioux Falls mayor. Lower Brule Tribal Chairman Boyd Gourneau says it will probably help the quality of life for Native Americans in Sioux Falls. The discussions centered around addiction, homelessness, and healthcare. Mayor Paul TenHaken said the city is looking into ways to provide resources to the large Native American community in the city. The leaders also discussed the possibility of hosting a Powwow, like the one in the Black Hills, to help bring the communities together.
