(Pierre, SD) — Police are investigating a bomb threat made at the Pierre Walmart on Sunday night. Central South Dakota Communications received a call Sunday night claiming an explosive device was placed at the Walmart. The dispatcher who took the call said it was consistent with previous instances of “swatting.” Authorities describe “swatting” as a prank call designed to get SWAT team members to respond to a scene where nothing is happening. Walmart staff evacuated the store as police conducted a search but found no suspicious items.
