(Rapid City, SD) — A man is facing first and second degree murder charges for a fatal shooting last year. Detectives believe Kane Youngman shot and killed 29-year-old Monte Gakin in August of 2025 outside the Oxford Square apartments. Evidence collected during a forensic analysis led investigators to Youngman and Rapid City Police arrested him on March 13th. His bond was set at one-million dollars. Youngman is pleading not guilty to the charges.
