Police Chase Leads To Officer-Involved Shooting In Box Elder

(Box Elder, SD) — A suspect is injured after being shot by a trooper in Box Elder on Saturday. A news release from the state Attorney General’s Office says the incident began as a police chase and the suspect suffered non-life-threatening injuries. It’s the first officer-involved shooting of the year in South Dakota. The car chase started with the Meade County Sheriff’s officers and the South Dakota Highway Patrol joined in once it reached Box Elder. The suspect’s identity has not been released.
