Plaque Honors 100-Year-Old Navy Captain At State Capitol

(Pierre, SD) — Retired 100-year-old Navy Captain E. Royce Williams is enshrined at the state Capitol building. He was honored on Wednesday during a ceremony unveiling a plaque honoring his name at the South Dakota Hall of Honor. Williams was awarded the medal of honor during President Trump’s State of the Union Address earlier this year. He was recently recognized for a mission during the Korean War that was held secret for over 50 years where the Wilmot native disabled three enemy jets and damaged a fourth. The Hall of Honor at the state Capitol building is located in the hallway that visitors enter right after passing through security.
