(Pierre, SD) — Attorney General Marty Jackley says crime is declining despite recent high-profile jury trials. Jackley’s office recently secured convictions and life sentences for three defendants in a double-homicide trial in Pennington County. The office also earned convictions in a robbery and aggravated assault case in Minnehaha County and a triple-homicide case in Centerville. Despite the seriousness of the crimes, Jackley insists South Dakota is a safe state. He says prosecutors and police take their jobs very seriously and they, “make sure when there are crimes that happen, there is accountability.”
