Flandreau, SD) — Demolition crews have started tearing down a controversial building in Flandreau. City officials say the building has been cited for multiple code violations dating back to 2020. A no-occupancy order on the building was issued in 2024 and the city received an order in 2025 to demolish the building. Owner Jeff Weigel and his family were seen taking items out on Thursday morning before the demo began. Weigel says he has been working on getting the building up to code but new damage was caused from a derecho windstorm.
