(Washburn, ND) — Farmers are getting ready for planting season with new challenges this year. One of those adjustments is higher fertilizer costs. Some farmers have adjusted by booking fertilizer early. Drew Petersen of Washburn tells KFYR that he was able to book early at 520-dollars a ton but he is seeing prices in the area up to 835-dollars per ton for those who waited. He also says corn is one of his strongest crops but he is also planting spring wheat, soybeans, fennel beans and canola this year in order to diversify his reach.
