House Sustains Vetoes On Final Day Of Legislative Session

(Pierre, SD) — Two vetoes by Gov. Larry Rhoden are being upheld by the South Dakota House. House members failed to override Rhoden’s veto on a bill to classify lab-grown meat as adulterated food, and a bill to force non-medical home care services to obtain licenses. After Rhoden’s veto on the lab-grown meat bill, he approved another bill that would impose a five-year moratorium on the products in the state. House members were able to approve a bill to provide more than eight-million dollars in funding to replace the Richmond Lake dam. The events marked the final day of the 101st Legislative Session.
