(Rapid City, SD) — Officials are putting a bridge replacement project on hold in Rapid City. This comes after the city was not selected for funding through the South Dakota Bridge Improvement Grant Program. More than 50 bridges were submitted for the program and only 10 were selected. City officials say the bridge is still a priority as it’s the only entry point for the Chapel Valley Community near Canyon Lake into Rapid City. Restrictions for semi-truck trailers are in place to try and preserve the bridge until a replacement can be built.
