(Bismarck, ND) — A group advocating for free school lunches delivered signatures for a ballot proposal on Thursday. The Together For School Meals coalition said it turned in 57-thousand signatures to the Secretary of State’s Office. They’re hoping to put a measure on the ballot that would provide a free breakfast and lunch for all students. The signatures were gathered in just over 100 days. Estimators say the program would cost about 133-million dollars in the 2027 through 2029 budget cycle.
