(Bismarck, ND) — Local producers say it’s an overdue correction that cattle prices are at new record highs. The price for feeder cattle is about 90 cents higher per pound compared to this time last year. Some livestock are being priced at three-dollars-75-cents per pound. Corn prices have dropped by about a quarter, which is a big help for ranchers who need to feed those cattle. Member-Owner Tim Larson of the Sidney Livestock Market Center in Montana says cattlemen he knows are excited but question how long the prices will last.
