(Rapid City, SD) — Campbell County fire officials are reinstating Stage 1 fire restrictions due to rising wildfire risks. Dry conditions and warming weather has the Campbell County Fire Department worried that conditions are ripe for a new wildfire. Restrictions were put in place on March 19th but lifted briefly during better weather. The stipulations prohibit open burning, fireworks, tracer rounds, exploding targets and other high-risk activities like welding and chain sawing in certain areas. Fire officials are reminding Gillette residents that burning yard waste is prohibited year round.
