(Minot, ND) — Governor Kelly Armstrong got a firsthand look at the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project. Armstrong was there on Friday to see the progress of the massive project, funded largely by state coffers. He says that before COVID the project was on time and under budget, but rising costs of steel and concrete have caused setbacks. The latest estimates have the total cost to protect the Souris River Basin from flooding at one-point-eight-billion dollars. The state Legislature has appropriated 81-point-one-million dollars for the project but Armstrong says that rising costs should not stop the project from continuing.
