(Belcourt, ND) — The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is mourning the loss of Abrium Swain. Investigators confirmed they found the body of the 12-year-old boy near Dunseith after his disappearance nearly two months ago. Friends and family gathered at the Turtle Mountain football field in Belcourt for a candlelight vigil on Friday. The community searched for weeks, hoping the 6th grader would return home safely. Swain’s cousin tells KX News that the family and the community is still grieving his loss.
