South Dakota Shows Population Growth Over Last 70 Years

(Pierre, SD) — Current U.S. Census data is revealing South Dakota’s population has experienced steady growth over the last 70 years. From 1950 to 2020, the state’s population grew by more than 236-thousand people. The latest numbers now have the total population of South Dakota approaching 900-thousand. Sioux Falls and Rapid City account for almost 78-percent of that total growth in the timespan.
