Gianforte Signs Photo ID Voting Bill

(Helena, MT) — Montanans now need photo identification to register to vote. Governor Greg Gianforte signed a bill this week revising voter identification laws in the state, making photo ID a requirement. Before, Montanans could register without photo ID or just by filling out a form. Gianforte said the measure will protect the integrity of elections in the Treasure State. Voters will have several photo options to choose from, including driver’s licenses and military IDs. The bill was signed during a ceremony at the State Capitol with Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen.
