Status Hearing Details In Moody County Deputy Murder Case

(Flandreau, SD) — A status hearing is now complete for Joseph Hoek. He’s the man accused of killing former Moody County Chief Deputy Ken Prorok during a pursuit in February of last year. Yesterday in court, a judge granted Hoek a third defense attorney and a mitigation specialist. They are supposed to gather more information about the case. Hoek is charged with first-degree murder and faces one count of aggravated alluding. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the state is seeking the death penalty, and that the trial is on track. It’s currently scheduled for October 14th after being rescheduled twice.
