Agriculture Drops To Fourth-Largest Driver Of North Dakota GDP

(Bismarck, ND) — A University of North Dakota economics professor says agriculture contributions to the state GDP are declining. Professor David Flynn says agriculture is the fourth-largest driver of the state’s economy behind mining, real estate and manufacturing. Flynn presented his findings at the 2026 Regional Economic Conditions Conference last week. He says agriculture has had a growth rate of negative-seven-point-78 percent over the last two-and-a-half years. He says despite the downward trend, agriculture is still a high-impact sector of the state’s economy.
