Bill To Cap Gaming Revenue In Deadwood Could Distribute Wealth

(Deadwood, SD) — A bill in the state Senate would cap gaming revenue and distribute the money to other entities. A historic preservation officer with the city of Deadwood says the bill would allow the city to make changes and grow other industries besides just gaming. The money would be refunneled into projects for roads and other infrastructure. Taxable gaming revenue in Deadwood totaled over 150-million dollars last year. Estimates show that if Governor Rhoden signs the bill, the city’s annual budget could increase by about 800-thousand dollars.
