Woman Spends Six Months In Jail Due To AI Error

(Fargo, ND) — A woman is free after an AI error connected her to a bank fraud case. Angela Lipps spent six months in jail after Fargo police identified her as a suspect in a bank fraud case. Lipps was extradited from her home, nearly one-thousand miles away in north central Tennessee, after AI determined she was the woman using a fake ID to withdraw tens of thousands of dollars from a bank in Fargo. Lipps says the extradition flight from Tennessee to Fargo was the first time on an airplane and the first time she had ever set foot in North Dakota. While incarcerated, Lipps was unable to pay her bills and lost her home, her car and even her dog.
