(Ward County, ND) — North Dakota farmers are delaying spring planting while the state recovers from colder-than-usual temperatures this month. Ward County Extension Agent Paige Brummund said farmers might be able to start planting spring wheat, peas and canola since these crops tolerate cooler temperatures. Brummund added that the northwest region is drier compared to other parts of the state, even if the numbers haven’t shown it yet. And with much of the soil still frozen, it’s tough to measure soil temperatures right now.
