Shelter-In-Place Order Lifted On Capitol Grounds

(Bismarck, ND) — A shelter-in-place order at the North Dakota Capitol has been lifted. A suicidal man was taken into custody by North Dakota Highway Patrol around 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The agency responded to the area around 2:00 p.m. for reports of a person who was armed with a pistol who was intending to hurt himself. A perimeter was established around the grounds as police began to interact with the person, who appeared to be sitting next to a bike. Two nearby elementary schools implemented shelter-in-place protocols before the suspect was apprehended.
