(Sioux Falls, SD) — Attorney General Marty Jackley and the Division of Criminal Investigation says a police shooting was justified. The use of force by officers with the Sioux Falls Police Department happened on March 31st. Two detectives located 36-year-old Richard Olson at a business and were told he was armed and had an active federal warrant out for his arrest. Officers fired at Olson after he pointed a gun at them, but they missed and he was eventually detained with the help of a police K-9. Olson was taken to the hospital for the dog bites before he was taken into custody.
