South Dakota Office Of Highway Safety Grant Targets Reckless Drivers

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Office of Highway Safety is on the lookout for speeders and reckless drivers. A grant from the department is providing more funding for authorities with the Lincoln and Minnehaha Sheriff’s Offices, South Dakota Highway Patrol and county attorney’s offices to spend more time targeting reckless drivers. With warmer weather around the corner, more people are going to be outside driving, and citizens are concerned drivers will not be staying in their lanes. A recent saturation effort on May 2nd resulted in 119 tickets and seven DWI arrests. More saturation patrols are scheduled for the summer but law enforcement hasn’t announced specific dates.
