Republican Public Service Commission Candidate Calls For Data Center Moratorium

(Bismarck, ND) — Republican candidate for the Public Service Commission Chris Olson is calling for a data center moratorium. The commission will have difficult decisions ahead on the construction of new data centers as the agency responsible for regulating energy infrastructure in the state. Olson says the world is moving faster than the people of the state can keep up with. Incumbent Sheri Haugen-Hoffart says the policy of the commission right now is to keep the decisions local. There are two seats up for grabs on the commission with Haugen-Hoffart trying to defend her seat for a new six-year term and Olson challenging incumbent Jill Kringstad for a two-year term.
