(Pierre, SD) — The state Board of Regents is approving higher tuition rates at five public universities. The hike is expected to raise rates by two-point-four percent per credit hour for undergrad students. The board approved the increase for Black Hills State, Northern State, Aberdeen, Dakota State, South Dakota State and the University of South Dakota. The students at South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City will see a five-percent increase. Board members say the main reason for the increase were inflationary challenges that have forced an increase in operating costs and technology costs.
