(Washington, DC) — Former Governor Doug Burgum is defending the Trump administration’s oil and gas policies. Burgum now serves as the Interior Secretary and he appeared in front of a U.S. House Appropriations panel on Monday saying the policies are a correction of Democratic policies that over emphasized wind and solar. Burgum said the administration favors hydro and nuclear power, but was wary of weather-dependent energy sources like solar and wind. North Dakota is recognized as the third-largest oil producer in the country behind Texas and New Mexico. The administration has requested a 15-billion-dollar budget for the Interior Department next year.
