South Dakota School Of Mines To Receive $40M In Philanthropic Funding

(Rapid City, SD) — The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is receiving 40-million dollars in philanthropic funding. The money is being provided thanks to a larger effort that raised 120-million dollars through the university’s New Heights Campaign. The 40 million will be focused on improving equipment for faculty, upgrading labs, expanding resources and improving hands-on learning opportunities. The head of the school’s mechanical engineering program says the donations elevate, “the daily educational experience.” School officials say programs like the New Heights Campaign help ensure Mines remains at the forefront of science and engineering in the country.
