(Sioux Falls, SD) — A 73-year-old woman is down nearly 400-thousand dollars due to a TikTok scam. The woman says she followed a TikTok account that asked if she was interested in investing in cryptocurrency. Scammers convinced her to wire roughly 200-thousand dollars to the person behind the TikTok account. The suspect then asked her if she was interested in starting a credit card business and convinced her to take out a home equity loan for 197-thousand dollars. When she saw her balance was at zero, she realized it was a scam and contacted authorities.
