(Rapid City, SD) — A man is facing four years in prison for leading an online swatting ring. South Dakota U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons says Thomasz Szabo’s swatting ring made numerous terrorizing threats toward dozens of public officials across the country, including threats to blow up South Dakota Mines. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the group showed a lack of remorse and appeared excited about the reactions they would get from law enforcement after making the threats. She said that since Szabo is Romanian, she thought he would never be found. Parsons says FBI agents in South Dakota were integral in tracing and capturing Szabo.
