(Lake Poinsett, SD) — Crews say a brush fire that broke out near Lake Poinsett is now contained. The fire started around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in a large field and was spreading southeast towards the lake. Two fire departments responded to the scene as the flames approached a few homes in the area. In order to protect the homes, crews were stationed on Northwest Lake Drive to prevent it from crossing the roadway. The fire fight lasted for about two hours and officials determined that it was started by a tractor baler.
