North Dakota Board Delaying Vote on Paying $1.3M in Bonuses to 12 State Employees

(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota State Investment Board is delaying a vote on paying out one-point-three-million dollars in bonuses to 12 state employees. Despite the policy already having passed, the board delayed the final vote over recent legal concerns. Board member Adam Miller raised concerns about whether the board has the authority to spend the money that’s necessary to fund the bonuses. The controversial incentive policy would provide over 100-thousand dollars to some Retirement and Investment Office staff. Governor Kelly Armstrong said he would like to consult with the attorney general and potentially Legislative Council about the matter.
