(Vermillion, SD) — Local investors are planning the first cohousing community in the state in Vermillion. Five acres of land were acquired through developer AMS Building Systems and will be turned into a condo-style living area named Dakota Prairie Commons. Cohousing is described as a residential area with separate homes but communal spaces for all residents to share. It’s designed to provide more community-building opportunities while also maintaining residents with privacy. More details about the project will be discussed at a workshop on Saturday with construction expected to begin in November.
