(Washington, DC) — Rep. Julie Fedorchak is pushing to stop lawmakers from receiving paychecks during government shutdowns. She co-wrote a letter, along with Democratic Rep. Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire and 18 other freshman members of the House to encourage Speaker Mike Johnson to bring the Withhold Member Pay During Shutdowns Act to the House floor. The bill unanimously passed through the Committee on House Administration, ten-to-zero. House candidate Alex Balazs, who is challenging for Fedorchak’s seat, says he supports the intent of the bill but believes the money should be donated to veterans service organizations instead.
