Auditors Not Sure When Absentee Ballots Will Be Available

(Pierre, SD) — Auditors are saying they don’t know when absentee ballots will be made available. The ballots were supposed to allow absentee voting to start last Friday, but a late date for final petitions and the Easter holiday made it impossible for ballots to be ready in Minnehaha County. Auditor Leah Anderson says sample ballots are printed and ready for voters who want to prepare for the real one. She says the administration building and staff are prepared to accept ballots as soon as they are printed and ready to go. Auditors were told the ballots take five business days to print and ship and orders were put in on Wednesday last week.
