(Bismarck, ND) — Groundbreaking has started on a massive Basin Electric Power Cooperative plant near Ray. The power plant is expected to cost roughly four-billion dollars. Officials say the Bison Generation Station will be the largest power plant in the state upon completion. Gov. Kelly Armstrong called the groundbreaking “a historic day” for the state. Basin says construction in 2027 will require about one-thousand workers and once it’s completed there will be roughly 50 full-time staff members.
