Lawmakers Hold Meeting On AI And CSAM

(Bismarck, ND) — State lawmakers are trying to learn more about regulating AI and CSAM. Members on the protection and victim services committee held a meeting on Wednesday about how they can stay ahead of AI-related crimes. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Criminal Intelligence says that in 2025 the agency had nearly 27-hundred tips about online child sexual abuse material and most of the material was generated by AI. The spokesperson noted, however, the tips are difficult to track and uncover because many are posted on the dark web. Regardless, lawmakers are trying to figure out what type of bills to write to stay ahead of the fast-developing technology and keep people safe.
